The Evolution Of Golf

Golf has been loved since its creation. What began as a pastime has turned into a sport now seen worldwide and publicized on programs such as ESPN. Watching as the golf club effortlessly swings that white tiny ball has made us adore this game. So how did golf evolve? Well, there are lots of responses to be had for that question.
In the 15th century in Scotland, the parliament had stopped the playing of “gowf”. Some claim this is just like our modern-day golf game, while others say it’s not. Some people say during the 17th century that the game of golf was played in the Netherlands but this, too, is questionable. We know this as a game of 18 holes. However, studies have shown that the game originally began somewhere with around 11 holes. But because golfers would play up through the 11 holes and back, researchers have further said that golf started as a game of 22 holes.
The Professional Golf Association, which is the world’s earliest organization for the game was developed in Britain in 1901. Then in 1911, Australia followed suit with the Professional Golfers’ Association of Australia. As far as the United States went, we began to saw professional golf competitions arise somewhere in the 1920′s. We didn’t observe females actively playing the sport publicly until somewhere after World War II. Where precisely golf was developed continues to be a debatable dilemma.
But one thing is definite; this game has now mesmerized everyone. Switch on your television set and you’ll see golfers from France, Africa, China, Australia, the United States, and much more. Most people love golfers like Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson. Visit any city just about worldwide and you will find a golf course, including one that is within driving distance.
Developing these courses to be more difficult has been a hot ticket for quite a while. Now you will see flat courses, courses on hills, courses designed around waterways, etc. The greater the challenge the course offers the more the gamers enjoy it. We now have live telecast for the PGA Tour, enabling us to keep an eye on golfers like Tiger Woods. Supporters will travel through nations just to watch this amazing game played live in front of them.
Despite the fact that males continue to reign over the number of participants of golf, females have also appeared as professional golfers for the last 60 years; with professionals like Annika Sorenstam, Natalie Gulbis, Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, and Morgan Pressel. Women have been emerging to the lead over the years and have been providing men a run for their money in relation to fan base.
It is undeniably true that our society takes pleasure in golf. Who suspected hitting a small ball with a stick across an area and into a golf hole could be so captivating? With many admirers, this game is now as popularly accepted as football. Undoubtedly, this game is not merely a trend that goes old with time, but a sport that will certainly last long.
