Killarney in Ireland is an excellent choice for a golf holiday because it has four full size courses and three nine-hole courses and it also has plenty top quality accommodation to cater for all visitors.

The newest of the golf clubs three courses is Lackabane, having opened in 1999. Stretching over 7050 yards it is considered to be fairly challenging with streams, bunkers and sloping greens adding to the difficulty. It is liked by golfers who prefer their golf to be testing.

Golfers can be distracted by the stunning scenery at the 18th hole of the O’Mahonys Point course. Many consider this course to be the least challenging of the three and is great for a relaxing round of golf. Novices will find it difficult enough as it is 6800 yards and has some tricky hazards.

The Killeen course is the most important and is the course on which the big tournaments are played. It is the longest of the three courses in the club and also the most challenging with difficult hazards, long holes and fast greens. This is where the world’s top golfers like to play and The Irish Open has been held there on a number of occasions. Set in between the mountains with excellent views of the lakes the tournament makes for excellent television viewing.

Beaufort Golf Resort is located about six miles from the town and is set at the base of the MacGillycuddy Reeks is a tree lined park. This has been newly developed in the past few years and is fast gaining a great reputation among golfers. This Par 71 course can be played by all grades of golfer.

Beginners and older people may find that one of the three 9-hole courses are are more suitable for them. The Dunloe and The Castlerosse are part of hotel leisure complexes but are open to non residents and the Ross course has a great reputation as a good course for novices.

Golfers will notice that within an hour’s drive from the town there are located even more world class courses. Ballybunion which has two world class links courses has been played by many of the rich and famous and is a favourite of one of the world’s greatest golfers, Tom Watson.

Other excellent courses in the area are Waterville, Tralee, Ceann Sibeal (Dingle) and Waterville.

Real Estate Boom Expected Following Planning Win in Joao Pessoa

Following protracted negotiations the Ministerio Publico Federal (MPF) has granted Brazils North Eastern state of Paraba permission to construct a major new conference centre in the state capital, Joao Pessoa. The centre will be located in Cabo Branco, Joao Pessoas number one residential district. This is a tranquil area with a spectacular beach, great restaurants and bars and is a prime investment location.

The building has an estimated budget of $50 million and initial works are due to start in September according to Infrastructure Secretary, Francisco Sarmento. The Government of Paraba fulfilled all of the terms established in an Agreement with MPF at the beginning of August 2009.

The land upon which the convention centre is to be constructed is part of a large master-planned area with proposals for at least six large resort hotel schemes. The land had been the subject of legal arguments for the last 20-years, stopping any development.

The State and Federal authorities had, until now, been unable to reach agreement regarding the protection and replanting of native vegetation, safeguarding of the beaches and investment into regularizing the water supplies for the area. However, now agreement has been reached it is widely expected that planning permissions will be granted and development commenced rapidly.

This agreement will bring a boom to tourism in Joao Pessoa and will be a landmark development within the North East of Brazil, states Sarmento. The building will help to improve the touristic network we already have in place and will give us increased drawing power in our low-season months he goes on to say. Real estate prices are forecast to increase massively now that this legal impasse has been resolved. The new hotels and resorts will have a knock-on effect throughout the city, which is good news for the canny investors who already have Joao Pessoa on their radar.

Joo Pessoa is one of Brazils most exciting yet little-known cities. It is located on the Brazilian North East coast and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the region. Known as the gateway to Europe due to its position as the most easterly point of the Americas, it is popular as a holiday destination amongst Brazilians from the South who choose it for its charm and absence of towering high rises that dominate some of the more heavily developed North Eastern cities.

Joo Pessoa is renowned as Brazils safest city with great restaurants, lively bars and extensive shopping areas. It is also officially the world’s second-greenest city, full of squares, gardens and areas of preserved natural forest.

8 The City is well run with a very rich and varied cultural programme and a wide range of events from and art exhibitions to large-scale classical and popular music festivals. A recently constructed Science and Cultural centre in Cabo Branco has formed a centre point to the cultural programme.

North East Brazil in general is receiving a lot of interest from the international investor market but the place on everyones lips right now is Joao Pessoa. Economic expansion and migration from the southern cities are fuelling the domestic market, ensuring a steady stream of buyers for new and resale properties and developers are struggling to keep up with demand. Couple this with the boom in tourism, a near-perfect climate and a year-round rental market and international investors can do little better than to invest in this exciting market right now.
