Is Golf A Good Method Of Exercise?
January 3, 2011 by Owen Jones

We all realize that we ought to exercise. Some individuals even like doing it, but unfortunately for society and most of us in it, the majority of people cannot be bothered to get off their backsides, which is why the populations of Western countries are turning to lard before our very eyes. This is a shame not just for the people concerned but for the tax-payers who have to replenish the public coffers in order to take care of them when they become sick.
So, how can we induce ourselves to take more exercise? Obviously government health warnings are merely benefiting marketing agencies and the media, so what else? Maybe, they could tell us: ‘Play tennis once a week, you will enjoy that vodka a whole lot more afterwards!’. Or ‘Play a round of golf first and that G&T will taste better!’ Or: ‘Walk a mile to the pub, have a pint, walk back and have another one, you will need it!’ The puritanical way definitely has not worked, so why not give realism a try?
I mentioned golf there quite by accident, but it strikes me that going for a game of golf and having a drink with your friends later is a whole lot better than watching it on TV with a can. It is not just the walking either, which most of us do not do enough of anyway, but it is the actions involved with hitting the ball – the swing and hand-eye co-ordination as well. And the social life afterwards, and many people miss out on a social life especially after retirement or the death of a spouse.
Now golf might not appear to you to be an interesting sport and I understand that point of view completely, but that is because it is not until you comprehend how hard it is to hit that ball hundreds of yards onto the green that most people can grasp the difficulty of playing the game well. That might be true of most sports, but golf does look so leisurely, does it not?
One of the good things about golf is that you can play with people of similar ability to yourself so that you do not feel self-conscious or ‘out of place’. If you join a ramblers’ club after 30 years of watching TV, you will soon feel old and past it, but golf is not the same, because there is no pace, no hurry, you can take as long as you like, you can let others ‘play through’ (go on before you) and you can call it a day and retire to the club house whenever you want.
Many retired people take up golf, especially if they were used to being active at work, but it is also a hobby, that you can take up if you think that you are not active enough at any age. It is surprising how much a little bit of extra exertion can help stave off stiff limbs and chubbiness.

Preventing A Golf Cut – Ideas To Guarantee You Never Slice Again!

Understanding how to prevent a golf cut is information which will serve you for the remainder of your playing career.
So many players fruitlessly fight with hitting the ball left to right although correcting it’s so simple . These are some fast tips which will have you hitting the ball straighter immediately.
Close your position
Keeping your feet open at address has a tendency to promote an outside in swing and closing your feet will alleviate this problem.
This is often times all that is needed to prevent a golf cut, and you will probably wish to try this before anything else because it is the fastest and most straightforward fix.
Let the arms fall
One extremely simple tip is to pause at the top of your swing and just let your arms fall naturally and avoid swinging them through as quick as attainable. Don’t be disturbed, you’re still going to generate plenty of club head speed-in fact, you’ll get rather more than if you were to swing all out.
This is as you’ll be waiting for your lower body to clear out and your chest and shoulders to catch up. This’ll help produce a rather more inside out swing motion which will end in either a straight shot or even a slight draw.
Strengthen your grip
The final swing tip is to bolster your grip. A feeble grip results in an open clubface produces a left to right shot. To try this just turn your left hand ( for a righty ) towards your back shoulder ; a good rule of thumb is if you can’t see at least three knuckle than your grip is too feeble.
The correct way to stop slicing the driver
This club is the one which customarily produces the worst slice out of all your clubs, as the longer clubs tend to exaggerate swing flaws and your driver is the longest of all. One simple technique is to just change your club flex amount.
If it’s too stiff or too flexible it’ll produce wayward shots ; a general guideline if that if your swing speed is over 100 mph you should go with a stiff shaft and if it is slower than you need to use a flex shaft. This is how to forestall a golf cut and enjoy years of successful golf.

Golf Swing Slice – The Best Way To Fix A Slice
December 25, 2010 by Ron Aguilar

A golf swing cut is one of the most common mistakes a golfer can do. If you know the way to fix a slice then you will see fast enhancements in your game resulting in lower scores and better results.
But the simplest way to stop slicing in a correct way! Some pointers on this subject can you find in this post. You can use them to train your method and better your golf swing cut.
I would like to begin with the aspect of a good position. This is crucial to your success. Put your shoulders up and stay ahead to your target. The position should be about as wide as your shoulders. The right foot straight ahead and the left one a bit to the left. This position can help to fix a cut.
These changes in your stance can make big variations in your game and where your ball will finish up. A correct position can be trained at the driving range reasonably easy.
Another point is the proper grip. Your hand must be in the right position if you would like to stop slicing. The left hand has on the club straight in front of your eyes when you look down. Now wrap the right hand over the left hand and leave your thumb into your right palm. There are some great videos and courses to explain this. If you do this right your golf swing cut will be better after a bit of coaching.
Practice the right golf swing at the driving range to find out why you slice the ball. Ask some friends what they can see when you hit the ball. Perhaps they know how to correct your golf swing slice. My opinion is that a golf grip or stance seems to be very simple but it is one of the commonest errors a golfer can do. And so , correcting this is one of the finest methods to fix a slice.
O.K, here is one bonus how you can get a proper golf swing.
Set yourself a goal you would like to reach. Maybe you would like to lower your scores one or two points in one month. Set your goal, but it has to be reachable! This is a psychological aspect you have to keep under consideration. As I mentioned mental golf fitness is significant.
So take this seriously.
If you want to know more about Golf chipping tips so you can hit that perfect shot with consistency then you definitely need HOW TO CORRECT A SLICE, which can definitely help you.
Step By Step How To Break 80 – Golf Back-Swing Ideas On Breaking 80 In No Time

The back swing works from the top down. The backswing take away starts at the very top with your arms and shoulder turn and works its way down to your hips and legs. But sometimes we may not notice how a backswing is extremely important to your over all performance. The following are some golf backswing tips that you can use on your next golf game.
Coiling up your body is what back swing is all about and creating the muscle stress or torque wanted to release a potent downswing. Therefore, resistance is formed between the bigger turning of the shoulders and chest and shoulders and the smaller turning of the hips and lower body.
You need to realize why your backswing is essential and must be given priority. Good speed in the backswing takes care of many issues that can occur forcing you to hit the ball offline or inconsistently. What you can do is target your efforts on a smooth backswing that feels natural with no jerking motions. A low and slow mindset when taking the club back will really help improve your golf swing.
Most golfers make the mistake of taking the club too far which ends up in a feared snap hook or a big cut. This move is what kills most golf swings and to avoid doing this, here is one of the best golf backswing tips. Focus on taking the club outside of your hands; so that when the club is hip high it will not be too far to the interior. It should be slightly outside your hands or even with them, and this single move will improve your balance and help you hit better golf shots.
You have to devote time in mastering your backswing. Practice more often as you can; muscle memory is a big factor. Your body should memorize the mechanics of the backswing, including each little detail and this could only be accomplished thru disciplined practice.

The Most Typical Backswing Issue
December 8, 2010 by Randolph Harris

One of the most puzzling terms in golf instruction is “shoulder turn”. Personally, I believe that instructors that talk about shoulder turn to describe the quantity of turn in the backswing are injuring their scholars.
To explain why I feel like that, I will ask you to try a little experiment.
Reach both arms in front of your body and take your right hand and grab your left wrist. Now, without turning your chest, pull your left arm across your chest with your right hand till your left arm is pointing to your right.
Notice how far your left shoulder moved. If your shoulders do this during your backswing and you believe that you are turning, this is the root of your backswing sicknesses.
For the club face to come back to the ball square and targeted, the geometry and relationship of the arms and chest and shoulders cannot change during the swing. Doing this experiment, you see that what might seem like a backswing to many golfers, but is basically a major change in the arms / body geometry which can result in an entire cluster of wild shots dependent on what else the golfer tries to compensate.
Now try a new experiment. Cross your arms across your chest and turn your chest and shoulders till your chest faces away from the target ( make a backswing ). You’ll notice that your arms and chest moved together. This is the same movement you ought to be making during your backswing.
What’s the difference between the two turns?
In the first turn, the arms pulled parts of the shoulders and chest till the arms looked as if they were ready. The stomach and hips didn’t turn.
In the second turn, you had to turn your mid-section to make the turn, also turning the hips as required. Those are the very same muscle you should usually use to make your ordinary backswing turn.
This one change in your swing will create more distance with less effort. It’s not the end all of the golf swings, because there is more to controlling your movement, but it is one of the most typical mistakes I see that many instructors miss during their lessons. Now you can enhance your backswing and become more consistent.
Rather than thinking about turning your shoulders, think about turning your chest.
This may not fully correct your shot pattern, nonetheless it may get it more in hand and give you more distance also.
Even accomplished golfers sometimes make this mistake but on a much smaller scale. It is one of the most typical timing inaccuracies in the golf swing.

Poker And Golf Are Two Games That Go Together
November 28, 2010 by Rodney Chen

Poker and golf are two games that on the surface would appear to be completely different and unrelated. Many players of these two games may tend to disagree as it has been widely observed that many golfers enjoy and thrive in poker and many poker players love the game of golf and are actually very good at it. The games of golf and poker have some obvious difference, as golf is a physical sport whereas poker is strictly a cerebral contest there are a few similarities between the two popular pastimes that tend to overlap.
Poker and golf are both contests in which the competitor is competing on their own and not as part of team, occasionally there are golf matches that are played in pairs but the sport is still very individualistic. The golfer and the poker player are both left to their own skill and resources and have no team to fall back on, it is an individual challenge where the goal is to always beat a personal best, be it the size of the bluff or the lowest golf score.
These two sports are both contests that depend very heavily on making the best decisions in order to play well and win. In poker it may be a well-timed bluff or folding a good hand when you are beat. In golf the decision may be club or shot selection in a certain approach position as well as calculations about a risky shot versus a more conservative one.
The competitions are also both games in which people are competing for prizes in tournaments and even gambling for cash sometimes a gentleman’s game and sometimes very high stakes. Golfers and poker players are both competitors who are willing to bet on their own talents and use skill and guts to compete at the highest levels or in a less serious game just try to beat their friends.
Poker players and golfer are usually competing with themselves to get better at their craft. Each are competitions that require a great deal of mental fortitude and toughness in bad times. It’s also the temperament with the greatest players in either sport to keep emotions on an even keel in either the very best or worst of times. The next time you’re on the golf course or at the poker table don’t be surprised if you are competing against some of the same individuals, competitive and tough players.

Golf is certainly one of the more expensive sports in the world. You may have to pay for a membership to a club or at least pay every time you have a round at a club that you are not a member of. At the same time you will need to get yourself a set of clubs which can be very expensive and suitable golf clothing. In order to try to limit your costings it may be a good idea for you to look for cheap golf trousers and other apparel that you need.
The type of trousers that you wear when playing golf will usually be determined by the specific dress code at the course in which you play at. However, generally you will have a range of different options and any smart trouser should be suitable.
When looking for affordable options you will want to start by looking online. There are all sorts of different e-commerce and online shops that you could sift through and these will point you to the direction of some cheaper options. Spend some time looking at prices and this will help you to determine what you can get for your money.
Look out for sales in your local area as well. Usually purchasing golf trousers in a local sports shop will be more expensive than buying them online but if there is a sale on then you may be able to get yourself a bargain.
If you really want to save money and don’t mind wearing second-hand clothing then there are few different options available to this end as well. The best place to look would be online and specifically on eBay. Here you will be likely to come across many people selling old golf trousers that they no longer need for whatever reason at very low prices.
Classified ads may also be a good option. You can find these both online and off-line in your local papers.

The Best Golf Backswing Hints – How To Correctly Perform The Technique To Get Improved Golf Swing
November 26, 2010 by Ronald Dotson

After you learn how to become a real expert in backswing, you’ll have a good game of golf. Without a good backswing, it’s going to be intensely complex to have a good game. Yes, you will be able to play without a great backswing but when you improve this segment of the game, you’ll seriously enhance your total game.
Before you start your work on improving your backswing, you must keep in mind that the goal is not such a lot to build up your power, but rather perfect your distance and form.
Having good solid stances as you swing – Proper posture, as well as shoes and alignment with the ball is critical for improving your backswing.
If there is not any a good robust posture, you’ll twist at the wrong moment and perhaps you won’t be well placed to actually grasp the club appropriately. These elements will create big issues in a successful backswing.
So, you should always ensure that you have the right stance. It will permit you to quickly and easily execute the correct follow through for your swing.
Unsure about your stance? Take a picture of yourself and then compare the exact way you’re standing with the proper position. Working with an instructor is the best way because he will be much more sincere with you about the blunders in your stance.
Once you have fixed your position, now’s the time to tackle the issues with your grip.
What makes a bad backhand from the beginning? Overextending your grip or when you hold the club the wrong way.
It’s physically most unlikely to have a correct backswing if you don’t grip the club correctly. In a few cases, even changing the position of your hands by just a small part of an in. can end up in a magnificent difference in results.
The final key consideration when it comes to improving your backswing is you need to pull the club back from the ball before lifting it off the ground. Virtually all golf players make the error of lifting the club back and up at the very same time. This could seriously hurt your backswing – you will hit the ball off focused.
You must pull the club straight back prior to starting lifting it up and you would observe an almost immediate progress. This isn’t difficult to do. You only need to make a conscious effort to drag the club back before up.
