Unfortunately the golf season is starting to come to an end with the onset of autumn. Hopefully you have all achieved those goals you set at the start of the season. We all start the season thinking things will go really well this year, the over winter preparation has gone better than ever before and we are feeling confident for this year. Hopefully everything has gone as well as you had hoped, you got through a few knockout stages and managed to win a couple of competitions and maybe even shaved a few shots off your handicap. If not well at least there is always next year!

A great way to finish off the golf season is to go away on golf weekends with your golfing buddies. Perhaps you might even go away for a longer holiday to catch some late summer sun abroad. There are plenty of different places to try, each destination has its own special qualities to test yourself against your friends with your golf skills that you have perfected over the summer.

If you are thinking of travelling abroad for a golf holiday then Europe is without doubt one of the best places to try and find something within your budget. There are several established golfing nations that have plenty of courses to choose from, but there are now several new pretenders that are becoming the new upcoming destinations to try out.

Possibly one of the best older established destinations is Portugal. The Algarve golf is some of the best holiday golf in the world, and has some of the great designed courses surrounded by towns and cities full of nightlife, history and culture. Vilamoura is one of these towns, it is centred on the marina where there are plenty of good restaurants and bars where to soak up the culture and relax after your hard day’s golf on one of the seven championship courses located near to the town.

One of the newest up and coming golfing destinations is Turkey. Turkey has built a number of golfing resorts including 5 star, all inclusive hotels and spa facilities to give the non golfers something to do while you are off during the day. Some of the top design companies have helped to build the courses around the resorts, including Faldo design and Colin Montgomerie’s IMG design group. These golf resorts are now becoming some of the best in Europe and have everything golfers and non golfers alike could possibly need.

So whether you are going to take a golf break somewhere nearer to home on a new course to you for just a weekend or if you are planning to go further afield for a longer golf trip, there are plenty of different places to choose from all with their own unique qualities. There is perhaps no better way to round off a good golfing year than spending some time away with some like minded friends putting into practise all the things you have discovered over the new season.
